The Glass Rainier Cherry Necklace you see here features one of my handmade glass Rainier Cherries, accented by two handmade glass leaves and hung on 14/20 Gold-Filled figure-eight chain. The realistic rosy blush on the surface of each cherry is achieved by adding and melting in up to twenty separate layers of transparent red glass in the flame of a torch. No paint is used. As a result, the color will not rub, flake or chip off. The cherry stem is made from a copper wire with a twist embedded into the glass, so it cannot be pulled out.
The Rainier cherry shown above is a translucent yellow with a mid-ripe red blush. You may also order Rainiers that are more tart (almost all yellow) or extremely sweet (almost all red). I normally make the cherries about 20mm across at the widest point, but they can be as large as 24mm or as small as 18mm. You may special order leaves which are larger or smaller, or of an opaque green instead of transparent.
The standard length for the necklace you see above is 20” and it is finished with a toggle clasp. Different lengths and clasp styles are available by special order. Like all of my jewelry, this design is available in both 14/20 Gold-Filled and Sterling Silver. You can see alternate cherry necklace designs and matching cherry jewelry by viewing the Cherries Page of this site.
Cherry jewelry can also be custom made with high-karat gold or platinum findings and accented with Swarovski Crystal or gemstone beads. Some examples can be viewed on the Custom Jewelry Page.
