Glass Sunny Side Up Double Yolk Fried Egg Sculpture

Glass Sunny Side Up Double Yolk Fried Egg Sculpture

Okay, I know it's silly. But also fun. :) People will see this on your shelf and do a double-take! Glass sunny side up Fried Egg sculpture with a double yolk, good enough to fool the eye. Makes a great conversation piece or a gift for your favorite cook.

This style of glass Fried Egg is about half cooked, complete with bubbles and crispy edges. There's still some shiny clear stuff around the yolks. The back is smooth. Each sculpture is the size of a real extra large fried egg - about 6 inches long, 4-1/2 inches wide and just under 3/4 inch thick in the middle. Every sculpture is completely unique and is signed and dated. Almost nothing in nature is perfectly round, smooth or even, so I deliberately avoid making my glass food sculptures too perfect. I put on splotches and speckles, make them lopsided, and add other imperfections so that each egg is unique. This makes them look much more "real".

I make each of these glass fried eggs individually using a free-hand method, so no two are ever the same. Though the process takes many steps, it allows me to make some eggs that look as though they are more cooked, with lighter colored, flatter yolks. I can make others that look less cooked because their yolks are higher, are more orange in color, and have more uncooked clear albumin around the yolk. If you'd like a glass fried egg that's different from what you see above, just email me and I'll make it for you.
